Bali-Belly, Magic Roads, Frogs That Live In Picture Frames

The first week in Bali is over. Schwups, gone.

Unbelievable!

A lot of it is just how I imagined it to be:

  • It’s hot and sticky in Bali.
  • The tribers are amazing. Everyone is open, easy-going, helpful and enjoys life.
  • We do, actually, work a lot. Seriously, we do!
  • The villas are gorgeous, just like the photos on the website promised. Here’s one of mine, from Villa 2 where I’m staying:

How To Keep In Touch With Me While I Work-And-Travel Around The World As A Digital Nomad

„Send us some photos and let us know how it‘s going.“

That‘s the farewell phrase I‘ve been hearing most these past couple of weeks. My family and friends are all super intrigued and excited for me. Probably not as excited as I am, but excited enough to want to be included and kept up-to-date about my upcoming digital nomad travels.

Which kick off in three days.

3 days!

On Thursday at this time, I‘ll be on a plane to Bali. I‘ll be digital-nomading it with the Wifi Tribe for four weeks in Canggu, Bali, then for four weeks in Chiang Mai in Thailand.

It still hasn‘t quite sunk in.

Anywho, since you – the lovely person reading this – are probably one of the people who asked me to keep them posted, here‘s how I‘ve decided to do just that. Continue reading “How To Keep In Touch With Me While I Work-And-Travel Around The World As A Digital Nomad”

It all started with a crumbling mud hut in Kimilili, Kenya…

Have you ever heard of a Kenyan town called Kimilili?

No?

Neither had I, until about three months ago. To be honest, I would have been hard presssed to even come up with a single city in Kenya, including Nairobi (the capital). All I associated with Kenya were safaris and the Big Five.

That is, until I became involved with School4Life.

I became aware of this Swiss charitable association in June of this year, when I met Astrid, one of School4Life’s four board members. At the time, Astrid was giving a presentation at the local Kiwanis club.

Her talk had grown men reaching for their tissues. Continue reading “It all started with a crumbling mud hut in Kimilili, Kenya…”

Free chapters daily! For a whole week! (Oh, and a snippet)

I have a surprise for you, dear reader:

Starting on Monday and running through Friday, I’ll be posting a new chapter of Agent of the Arcane: Double Cross per day!

A few readers complained that once a week wasn’t going fast enough, especially in the beginning, so I decided to oblige. Schedule permitting, I’ll probably keep throwing out a week like this per month, so keep your eyes peeled.

(Or just sign up for my newsletter to never miss a new chapter.)

Until then, here’s a teaser snippet from the upcoming Chapter 4 – Break-Down:

Cole insisted on picking me up at home; he probably wanted to check out my place, see if it gave any clues as to my truthfulness. He’d be disappointed, because there wasn’t much to find or deduce. I lived like the waitress I was pretending to be.

To his credit, he wasn’t just disappointed. He was shocked.

“This is a hovel,” he said as soon as he stepped inside the tiny, single-room apartment with the kitchen niche and a small, built-in closet.

“This is just temporary,” I defended my quarters. “Until I’ve saved some money and can afford something a little nicer.”

“I smell mold.”

His nose had to be phenomenal. I’d painted over that patch of mold in one of the corners with red paint, pimping the whole room in the process. Red made everything look more vibrant, less sorry. Less hovel-y.

I crossed my arms in front of me. “I wouldn’t say no to a raise, you know. Hunting vampires doesn’t earn me a cent.”

Read the rest of the chapter here on Monday at 5pm CEST. 😉
