Not a Fan of Cancun

Let me amend that slightly: I’m not a fan of Cancun’s Hotel Zone. You know, that loooooong stretch of… peninsula? Man-made island in front of the main land? Strip of resorts?

Whatever the term for it, it’s definitely not my favorite place to be as a remote worker, and I’m happy I’m leaving for Playa del Carmen tomorrow. I guess you’ll find some duds here or there, even in the Caribbean. Continue reading “Not a Fan of Cancun”

Perspective fun on the Salar de Uyuni Salt Flats

As usual, 4 weeks have gone by in the blink of an eye. Bolivia has not just been the most productive WiFi Tribe chapter I’ve ever been on, it has probably been the most productive month of my life. Ever.

Or at least since I was two years old and my brain was a sponge, soaking up words and worlds of information. I suppose that’s probably the most productive time in any human’s life in terms of life lessons learned.

Bolivia is not your typical WiFi Tribe chapter – mostly due to its location. We’re staying at one of the co-founder’s parents’ house, about 45 minutes outside of La Paz – the highest capital city in the world.

We call the house “the Compound”, because there’s a big fence around the property, and the gates get locked at night. The little town it belongs to is called Huajchilla, and to get here from the city you drive along winding mountain roads, across bridges, around bends with 200-foot-drops down one side, and over construction sites where your butt gets sweaty because you’re so close to the crumbling limestone edge…

I love it! 😀 Continue reading “#betterinbolivia”

Nomad Cruise for Introverts (and Extroverts) – Overcome the Overwhelm

Ever heard of Nomad Cruise? It’s basically a conference for digital nomads – at sea! On a cruise ship, to be exact. And I was on the last one, Nomad Cruise 8.

Six days. Five stops between the Canary Islands and Lisbon, Portugal. 222 digital nomads. 20+ talks and workshops. A talent show. “Piranha Tank”. Speakers Challenge. Meetups, 30-second pitches and salsa dancing. An amazing time was had by all!

Well, most of it was amazing. To be honest, I did have a few low points.

Digital Nomad Challenges – Watch Your Spending

20180520_104209-01

In my last post, I promised a run-down of my current troubles as a digital nomad.

You may wonder what troubles a digital nomad could possibly have. We travel from place to place and work from new cities, cafes, libraries and exotic locations every few weeks or months.

If a digital nomad has enough work, what terrible problems could they possibly, really have?

I do have enough work to cover all my traveling and living costs and am living the dream life.

So what’s the problem?  Continue reading “Digital Nomad Challenges – Watch Your Spending”
